Saturday, October 19 – 11:00am to 12:00pm – Trauma Informed Contemplative Interventions: Integrating Somatic Work into Other Healing Modalities

In embracing the path toward greater healing and enlightenment, we must be aware of what practices we choose and with whom. According to research, 70% of adults in the U.S. have experienced some type of traumatic event at least once in their lives. That’s 223.4 million people. What this means for the contemplative community, is that in any environment where contemplative interventions (meditation hypnosis, yoga nidra, etc.) are being practiced (inclusive of yogic spaces, private offices, clinical spaces, schools etc.), there’s a high likelihood that someone will be struggling with traumatic stress. And while not everyone who has experienced trauma will have an adverse response to contemplative based practices, we need to be prepared and aware of this possibility and create accessibility and agency for all who practice. This conversation is rooted in the work of Dr. David Treleaven and Resmaa Menakem, and will outline ways to facilitate brave spaces and accessibility for everyone to practice somatic based interventions through more agentic measures. Dr. Kelsey Evans-Amalu will also provide tangible takeaways for teachers of contemplative traditions (yoga, meditation, hypnosis, etc.) to apply to their own classrooms, private practices, and studios. Included in this workshop will be a Trauma Informed Somatic Practices and discussion to integrate pre and post hypnosis.

Kylea Taylor – Ethics and Professional Development

  • Many have said that the path to enlightenment requires considerable self-reflection and practice. This depth work benefits not only ourselves, but also all others with whom we interact. We especially impact clients when we work professionally. Clients are opening themselves to us at many conscious and unconscious levels, trusting us to assist them in doing healing or expansive work that is in their best interests. Can we find an impeccable, compassionate way to develop our consciousness and trustworthiness?

Matthew Brownstein – Synthesizing the IAIH 2024 Conference; Concluding Thoughts, Review, and Synthesis

  • Matthew’s closing words and meditation at the end of the conference promise to be a powerful and transformative experience for attendees. As he guides the group through the meditation, he will help solidify the teachings and techniques presented throughout the event, allowing participants to integrate their newfound knowledge on a deeper level.

The closing session aims to empower attendees with increased confidence and self-assuredness, encouraging them to continue their journey of healing and enlightenment through the power of hypnotherapy. By acknowledging the contributions of presenters and providing time for questions and answers, Matthew ensures that participants leave the conference feeling inspired, equipped, and supported in their endeavors.

Overall, Matthew’s closing session serves as a fitting conclusion to the conference, leaving attendees with a sense of purpose and renewed determination to make a positive impact in the world through hypnotherapy.
