As a licensed, postsecondary vocational institute, we graduate Hypnotherapists who go into private practice all of the time, yet this can be a scary move for a lot of people who are wanting the security of a full-time job.  This blog article is dedicated to those who want to leave their full-time job and to become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.  We cannot make any promises about what you will do with our hypnosis training after graduation, yet here are a few tips to help to increase the probability of your success. 

At the core of every human being’s experience there is a sense of consciousness that is much more than just memories, intellect and reason, for even when the mind is quiet, there is still an awareness of being that always remains.

The altered state of hypnosis has been known to help us to influence the subconscious mind to create positive changes in our lives, yet there are also many related modalities that can allow for change to occur without a formal trance induction.  While the founders of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) understood a great deal about hypnosis, they also pioneered ways to make shifts within the mind without having to use the classical hypnosis model.  This brief article will explore the nature of NLP in hypnosis training and how it can benefit Hypnotherapists and others in the care-giving professions.

Hypnotherapy is a profession and It is important to understand what it takes to truly learn hypnosis and to then become successful as a well-trained hypnotherapist with legitimate credentials.

The conflict between science and religion has existed since Darwin first proposed a significant understanding of how our physical world evolved into being.  Since then, many people have turned away from traditional religion, yet have felt a strong need for spirituality in their lives.  During a time when the world may be becoming more and more secular, there is a need for the human heart to still feel a sense of that which is sacred and meaningful.  Hypnotherapy and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy Training open doors to a synthesis of scientific method, spirituality and a life of purpose and fulfilment.

I went through the first 300 hours of hypnotherapy training and now I’m in clinical and soon to be in transpersonal. There’s people of all ages who start this so don’t feel like you’re too young or too old. Many people from different backgrounds join the program from doulas/midwives to physicians to psychotherapist to regular people like me. A group of us practice hypnotherapy on our off time out of class to get really good at the techniques. The instructors are very good and went through the same program. I’m lucky to have Matthew Brownstein as one of my two instructors. People come in from out of state to get this training because it’s so in depth.

There is a rational side of our mind that insists that things are linear, logical, rational and orderly.  It has served us well and we can be grateful for being conscious, thinking beings that  are capable of living rational lives, yet in hypnotherapy training, we spend a lot of time with what we call the ‘subconscious mind.’ This part of our being tends to be quite different from the analytical, reasoning conscious mind that many of us rely upon on a daily basis.  When we learn hypnosis, we learn about a mind that is not linear, not rational, not always logical, and not always “programmed” for our greatest good.  However, this part of our mind holds enormous potential for so much good, if we only dare to tap into its innate powers and abilities.

When we decide to learn hypnosis, there are many levels that we can start from. We can read a book, watch YouTube videos, take a 3 to 5-day workshop, or we can learn about the highest standards in the profession and work to measure up to those. This article is designed to help anyone looking to truly understand the profession of hypnotherapy to learn hypnosis properly through educational institutes that are not mere weekend hypnosis trainings, but rather are true licensed vocational institutes that offer legitimate credentials in an occupation that we want you to be proud of.
